What is BMX racing?

BMX racing, or bicycle motocross racing is done on a dirt track, one lap with up to 8 riders racing to finish first. A typical race lasts anywhere from 30 seconds for the fastest riders up to a minute for the little guys. Prizes for wins very from race to race, with some races giving out trophies as wins and others as stickers. All riders who participate earn points towards year end number plate position. In 2008 BMX racing is going to be an Olympic event so come out and see the stars of tomorrow today.

Racers are divided up into age classes starting at 5 years old and under and are placed into classes depending on how many races they have won. We have a class for real young riders where they use half the track just to let them get a feel for the sport, this is really a non competitive class and is really designed just for fun for the real little kids.

After they are ready to ride around the whole track on their own, they then move into the 5 and under novice class, at this level parents are allowed to help the children on the starting gate by placing the back wheel between their legs. Once all children reach the age of 6 they must start on their own.

You are free to come out at any age and sign up and give it a try and you will be placed in your respective age class at the novice level. Once you have reached the predetermined race wins you move up to intermediate class for your age and then again a series of races must be won at the intermediate level and you move up to expert.

At all levels you stay in your respective group, novice, intermediate and expert even if your age changes during the year.

New riders should all check out the information on this page.
