A one year membership to race with the ABA is $55.00 and race fees vary from $7.00 to $50.00. Most races are in the $7.00 range where the Canadian Grand Nationals, with close to 600 riders is $50.00. The Canadian Grand Nationals are usually held in Chilliwack BC.

Be careful of signing up for other association licenses as they run from January 1st to December 31st and you can NOT race in the USA with these licenses. These licenses are also a lot more expensive. Be sure to come out to our track and sign up for one of ours because we have the most tracks and we are the least expensive in the business. Check it out and see what we mean. When you sign up with the ABA your license runs from the date of purchase to that date the following year and you also race in your age class with us. In other associations you run whatever your age is as of December 31st and this can sometime be a problem if you have a later birthdate. With our association you move up in age class when you have your birthday, it is not set in stone like other associations.

Cost of equipment:

You can do this fairly inexpensively if you put a little bit of work into it. Look around for some used gear if you are just starting out, because BMX racing is not for everyone. So do not go out and spend $1000.00 on a brand new race bike and racing gear if you have not tried the sport before. Lots of people at the tracks are selling used gear and you can quite often find some good deals there.

You can find a decent race ready bike for around $200.00-300.00 and then all you really need is a helmet. Find a long sleeved shirt and some long pants and come out and give it a try.

Another good source for finding good used deals is ebay. Use the search term BMX and see what you can find there.
